Blog Post

AbleChildAfrica asked me to guest blog for national epilepsy week. ‘Wow’, I thought, ‘a chance to write about the most unimaginable experience I’ve had!’

That experience was awake brain surgery.

Yup,  a w a k e .

Luckily my surgeon totally removed the annoying epilepsy causing tumour.

My goal here was to draw attention to common experiences of epilepsy sufferers – then focus in on those without access to the right services and support. But rather than paint the latter as victims, I wanted to celebrate the communities they reside in. This allowed me to come full circle and mention the way the charity vitally works within existing local networks.

It definitely had people in awe. I hope you enjoy it too.
